Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose Diabetes Insight and Weight Managment?

This practice is nurse-practitioner owned and rooted in the philosophy of holistic, culturally responsive care. We treat the whole person - not just the symptoms - by addressing physical, emotional, social, and cultural factors that impact health. We believe in healthcare that is equitable, inclusive, and empowering and invest the time with each person to ensure this is provided.

What is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and how are they different from a physician/doctor?

Nurse Practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) who are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat medical conditions. NPs can prescribe medications, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and manage chronic and acute illnesses. Our approach emphasizes health promotion, education, and collaborative care. While physicians and NPs share many responsibilities, NPs often focus more on preventative and holistic care. â€‹â€‹
